Alec Beard, Marin Ireland, and Zoe Kazan will star in a free reading of Orphan Island, a new play by Sarah Treem, at Ars Nova at 7pm on Monday, January 28. The reading will be directed by Melissa Kievman.

In the play, Iyo and Maddie live quietly in a lighthouse on Orphan Island, a lobstering community miles off the coast of Maine. After the last ferry of the season departs, a woman shows up, drenched to the skin and claiming to have no memory, but Maddie and Iyo remember her well.

Treem’s plays include Empty Sky, Against the Wall, Mirror, Mirror, A Feminine Ending and Human Voices. She also writes for the HBO drama, In Treatment.

Beard has appeared Off-Broadway in A Feminine Ending, and As You Like It. Ireland’s many credits include The Beebo Brinker Chronicles and The Ruby Sunrise. Kazan is currently on Broadway in Come Back Little Sheba and has starred Off-Broadway in 100 Saints You Should Know, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, and Things We Want.
