Alan Cumming and Dianne Wiest to Star in CSC's The Seagull

Alan Cumming will join previously announced star Dianne Wiest in Classic Stage Company's revival of Anton Chehkov's classic drama The Seagull, February 20-March 30, with an official opening slated for March 13. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

The production, which will feature a translation by Paul Schmidt, will be directed by Viacheslav Doglachev. The creative team will include Santo Loquasto (sets), Suzy Benzinger (costumes), and Brian MacDevitt (lighting).

Wiest, who will play Madame Arkadina, has starred on Broadway in Salome, Othello, and In the Summer House, and Off-Broadway in Third, Memory House, and The Art of Dining. She won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway.

Cumming, who will play Trigorin, won the Tony Award for Cabaret and has also appeared on Broadway in Design for Living and The Threepenny Opera. His other theater credits include Bent, The Bacchae, Hamlet, and Elle.
