Vicki Lewis and Scott Waara to Star in They’re Playing Our Song

Vicki Lewis and Scott Waara will star in the Valley Musical Theatre’s production of They’re Playing Our Song, February 23-March 11 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. The production will be directed by Dan Mojica.

Featuring a score by Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager and a book by Neil Simon, They’re Playing Our Song concerns the romance between a pair of seemingly mismatched songwriters. The musical was first seen at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in 1978, before transferring to Broadway the following year, with Robert Klein and Lucie Arnaz in the leads. The show earned four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.

The creative team includes John Randall (musical direction), Brett J. Banakis (sets), Thomas G. Marquez (costumes), John E.D. Bass (lighting), and Phil Allen (sound). The supporting cast includes Chris Ciccarelli, Jay Donnell, Seana Harris, Geoffrey Kidwell, Shanon Mari Mills, and Anna Perillo.

Lewis has starred on Broadway in Chicago and Damn Yankees, worked extensively in Los Angeles theater, and is best known for her role on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio. Waara received the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his performance as Herman in The Most Happy Fella. His other Broadway credits include City of Angels and Welcome to the Club.
