Terence Blanchard, Jason Graae, Lorenzo Lamas, John Lithgow, Amanda McBroom, and Freda Payne are among the artists set to participate in A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening, a celebration of the music of the late composer Jimmy McHugh, to be held at Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum at 8pm on February 12.

The event, which will be directed by Gordon Hunt and hosted by Michael Feinstein, is part of the Taper’s long-running Salon Series and will benefit the Center Theatre Group’s ticket discount program. The cast also includes The Alley Cats, Karen Benjamin, Kevin Earley, Mike Greensill, Channing Cook Holmes, Amy Pietz, and Wesla Whitfield.

McHugh’s songs have been heard in numerous Broadway shows, from Blackbirds of 1928 and Singin’ the Blues to Ain’t Misbehavin’, Sugar Babies, Black and Blue, and Never Gonna Dance. Among his biggest hits are “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” and “I’m in the Mood for Love.” He was also a founder of ASCAP.

Tickets to the February 12 event are priced at $200 and $500. Call 213-972-7654 for more information.
