Dreamgirls Wins Four Broadcast Film Critics Awards

Dreamgirls, which had topped the list of the 12th annual Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award with seven nominations, picked up four trophies last night: Eddie Murphy as Best Supporting Actor, Jennifer Hudson as Best Supporting Actress, “Listen” as Best Song, and Best Soundtrack.

The Departed won for Best Picture and Best Director for Martin Scorsese;
Little Miss Sunshine, which also received seven nominations, took home four awards, including Best Acting Ensemble; Helen Mirren won for Best Actress for The Queen, and Forest Whitaker was named Best Actor for The Last King of Scotland.

Other winners included Borat for Best Comedy Film; Charlotte’s Web for Best Family Film; Cars for Best Animated Film; Letters From Iwo Jima as Best Foreign Language Film; An Inconvenient Truth for Best Documentary Film; and HBO’s Elizabeth I, which starred Mirren in the title role, as Best Film Made for Television.
