Adam Rapp to Direct Julian Sheppard’s Los Angeles at the Flea

Adam Rapp will direct the New York premiere of Julian Sheppard’s play Los Angeles, which will play The Flea Theater, February 14-March 17, with an official opening slated for February 22.

The production will star Katherine Waterston, Jonathan Walker, and members of The Bats, the Flea’s resident acting company. The creative team will include David Korins (sets), Miranda Hardy (lighting), Erika Munro, and Eric Shim (sound).

Sheppard is best known as the author of Buicks, which received a 2003 Drama Desk nomination for Best Play. His other work includes Love and Happiness and A Hole in the Earth.

Rapp is best known as a playwright, whose works include Red Light Winter, Blackbird, and Nocturne. In addition to directing his own work, he recently directed Christopher Denham’s Cagelove. He was the winner of the 2006 Princess Grace Award and a Pulitzer Prize finalist for Red Light Winter. Rapp also wrote and directed the film Winter Passing, starring Ed Harris.
