Ace, Urinetown Top Kevin Kline Award Nominations

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ productions of the musicals Ace and Urinetown topped the nominees for this year’s Kevin Kline Awards, which honor the best of St. Louis theater. The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Roberts Orpheum Theater on March 26, hosted by Broadway star Ken Page.

In total, The Repertory Theatre picked up 49 of the awards’ 115 nominations. Urinetown picked up 14 nominations, Ace picked up 12 nominations, and the company’s production of The Musical of Musicals: The Musical picked up eight nominations. All three shows are competing for Outstanding Musical Production, along with the Muny’s production of Aida and Stages St. Louis’ production of Cabaret.

The Repertory also scored two of the nominations for Outstanding Dramatic Production for I Am My Own Wife and Ordinary Nations. The other nominees in that category include Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis’ Julius Caesar, Upstream Theater’s Marija’s Pictures, and St. Louis Shakespeare’s Metamorphoses.

Among the acting nominees are Noah Galvin and Jessica Boevers (Ace), Lisa Bresica and Simone (Aida), Jayne Paterson (Urinetown), David Elder (Cabaret), and Arnie Burton (I Am My Own Wife).
