The fourth annual New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) will be held September 17-October 7 at various venues.

In addition, NYMF is currently accepting applications for its Next Link Project, which spotlights production-ready musicals. Eighteen such shows will be presented during the 2007 festival. “The Next Link Project is central to what we do at NYMF, because the open submission process gives equal opportunity to writers at all levels of the theater community, from working professionals to those whose work has not yet been produced,” says Kris Stewart, NYMF’s executive director.

This year’s Grand Jury will include actor Adam Epstein, who also teaches at NYU, Hairspray producer Margo Lion, and Casey Nicholaw, the director-choreographer of The Drowsy Chaperone and the upcoming City Center Encores! production of Follies.

In the past three years, NYMF has showcased such musicals as Altar Boyz, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, [title of show], The Big Voice: God or Merman?, and Gutenberg! The Musical!.

Applications for the Next Link project can be made through March 1 through www.nymf.org.
