Neil Maffin will play the title role in Sidd, a new musical adapted from the classic Herman Hesse novel Siddhartha, which will begin performances at Dodger Stages on February 23 and is scheduled to open officially on March 22. The show features a score by Douglas Silver and a book and additional lyrics by Andrew Frank, who will direct the production.

Sidd chronicles a man’s spiritual journey from his youthful wanderings in his home village through his encounter with the Holy Buddha, his many years living amidst the glamour, jazz and corruption of the city, and his eventual enlightenment as a ferryman. The cast of the Off-Brodway production also includes Marie-France Arcilla, Dann Fink, Pamela Jordan, Nicole Lewis, Arthur Marks, and Gerry McIntyre; the creative team includes Fran Kirmser (choreography), Maruti Evans (set design), Chris Dallos (lighting design), Michael Bevins (costume design), Andrew Bellware (sound design), and Ned Ginsburg (musical direction).

Maffin appeared on Broadway in Garden District and Salome, and Off-Broadway in such shows as Thief River, The Sum of Us, and the CSC production of Entertaining Mr. Sloane. His film credits include The Thirteenth Warrior and Moment in Time, and he played Beau Farrell on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns.
