Murney, Cuervo, Benjamin, Waldman, Freeman to Join Wicked Tour

Julia Murney, Alma Cuervo, P.J. Benjamin, and Jennifer Waldman will join the cast of the national tour of Wicked on March 8, when the show begins performances at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati.

In addition, K. Todd Freeman will take over the role of Dr. Dillamond from Timothy Britten Parker on March 28, when the tour hits Philadelphia’s Academy of Music. The newcomers will join current tour stars Kendra Kessenbaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), and Logan Lipton (Boq).

Murney, who will take over the role of Elphaba from Stephanie J. Block, was seen on Broadway in Lennon and Off-Broadway in The Wild Party and A Class Act. Cuervo, who’ll succeed Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, has appeared on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, and Titanic. Benjamin, who’ll take over the role of The Wizard from David Garrison, has Chicago and Pippin among his Broadway credits. Waldman, who’ll replace Jenna Leigh Green as Nessarose, has appeared on Broadway in Wicked and Titanic. Freeman received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in The Song of Jacob Zulu.

The national tour of Wicked began last March in Toronto and has since played such cities as Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
