Joey McIntyre Will Play Fonzie in Happy Days Musical at Falcon Theater in L.A.

Pop music star Joey McIntyre will play Fonzie in Happy Days, the new musical based on the popular 1970s sitcom. The show will have its world premiere run at the Falcon Theater in Los Angeles, February 15-March 12.

Set in Milwaukee in 1959, Happy Days features a book and direction by Garry Marshall, who created the long-running TV series. The music and lyrics are by Oscar- and Grammy Award-winner Paul Williams, whose songs include “Evergreen,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” and “Rainy Days and Mondays.” The show is being choreographed by Randy Skinner, a Tony Award nominee for 42nd Street and Ain’t Broadway Grand. Musical supervision is by Phil Reno.

The cast also includes Audra Blaser, Ryan Bollman, Joseph Leo Bwarie, Wayne Duvall, Cynthia Ferrer, Christine Lakin, Philip Lightstone, Heather Lindell, Matt Merchant, Jaclyn Miller, DeQuina Moore, Rory O’Malley, Robert Petrarca, Ernie Sabella, Paul C. Vogt, and Anna A. White.

McIntyre, a one-time member of New Kids on the Block, is now a popular solo recording artist. He appeared on Broadway as Fiyero in Wicked and starred Off-Broadway and in regional theater as Jonathan in tick, tick… BOOM! He was also seen in the Reprise! production of Babes in Arms, and he played Matt in the film version of The Fantasticks. Currently, he is a contestant on the popular ABC-TV reality show Dancing With the Stars.
