Albee, Caldwell, Seldes, Scheider, Stritch, et al. Set for Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts

Edward Albee, Zoe Caldwell, Roy Scheider, Marian Seldes, and Elaine Stritch will be among the participants in the first Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, to be held May 5-8 at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

The event will include two symposia on Clurman and his effect on the American theater. One will feature Caldwell, Scheider and Stritch; the other will feature Albee and fellow playwrights Horton Foote and John Guare.

There will also be several productions of Clurman’s plays, along with Ronald Rand’s bioplay Clurman and Ellen M. Violet’s Dorothy Parker Gets the Last Word in which Seldes will star. In addition, the Harold Clurman Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Albee.

Other events include jazz and classical concerts by David Amram, Ned Otter, and Laurence Gingold, and poetry readings by Nobel Prize winner Derek Walcott, Harold Bloom, Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Wright, and Grace Schulman.
