A Shakespearean Film Retrospective of Sir Ian McKellen Scheduled at Kaye Playhouse

The Shakespeare Society will present A Shakespearean Film Retrospective of Sir Ian McKellen on Monday, February 7, 2005 from 6:30 to 8pm at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues). Actor-director Roger Rees and theater critic John Simon will screen film clips of McKellen’s performances in Macbeth, Richard III, Othello, and his solo project Acting Shakespeare. Rees and Simon, who have hosted prior film retrospectives of the work of Sir Laurence Olivier, Claire Bloom, and Sir Derek Jacobi, will offer commentary and discuss McKellen’s career.
