Be My Love, a musical about the life of Mario Lanza, is scheduled to open on Broadway in the spring of 2005.

The show will be directed by Charles Messina, who is currently represented by the Off-Broadway production of Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God. Michael Amante will play Lanza and Tony LoBianco will play Lucky Luciano. Casting for additional roles has not yet been announced.

Sonny Grosso, Phil Ramone, and Pierre Cossette are the production team behind Be My Love. The show has a book by Richard Vetere and includes some of Lanza’s most famous songs. It tells of Lanza’s self-destructive behavior, his association with gangsters, his emulation of the great singer Enrico Caruso, and his death at 37.
