Entertainment legends Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett will be honored by the Museum of Television & Radio on February 5 at a gala event at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

The Museum’s galas are held annually in New York or Los Angeles and benefit the Museum’s endeavors, which include education and the preservation of television and radio programs and advertisements. Past events have honored such figures as Alan Alda, David Brinkley, Sid Caesar, Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammer, Mary Tyler Moore, Jack Paar, Dan Rather, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Sheen, and Barbara Walters.

Though Andrews is best known for her bevy of movie roles, including her famous turns as the title character in Mary Poppins and as Maria in The Sound of Music, she also created major roles on Broadway in The Boy Friend, My Fair Lady, Camelot, and Victor/Victoria and was the star of the Rodgers & Hammstein TV musical Cinderella. Similarly, though Burnett is most famous for her long-running television variety series The Carol Burnett Show, she also starred on Broadway in Once Upon a Mattress, Fade Out – Fade In, Moon Over Buffalo, and Putting it Together. This season, she was represented on Broadway as the co-author with her late daughter, Carrie Hamilton, of the play Hollywood Arms.

Additional information about the gala, including the list of celebrity friends and supporters who will pay tribute to the honorees, is forthcoming.
