Sandy Duncan, Alix Korey, and Others Announced for Musicals in Mufti’s The Grass Harp and A Family Affair

Sandy Duncan, the Tony-nominated actress who has starred on Broadway in Peter Pan and Chicago, has just been announced as the star of the York Theatre Company’s concert production of The Grass Harp, to be presented January 17-19 as part of the company’s Musicals in Mufti series.

Duncan will play Verena in the show. Joining her will be Jeanne Lehman (The Sound of Music) as Dolly, Barbara Tirrell (Annie) as Babylove, and B.J. Crosby (Harlem Song, One Mo’ Time, Smokey Joe’s Cafe) as Catherine. Rounding out the cast will be Kim Blair, Emily Blau, Jeff Cyronek, Jason Dula, Colin Hanlon, Regina Lobiondo, Pasha Pellosi, Guy Stroman, and Audrey Vernick. The Grass Harp features music by the late Claibe Richardson and book and lyrics by Kenward Elmslie. The production will be directed by Jim Morgan, artistic director of the York, and will feature musical direction by Jack Lee and choreography by Linda Cholodenko.

The next production in the Musicals in Mufti series will be A Family Affair by James and William Goldman and John Kander, running January 24-26. It will star Alix Korey, David Margulies, Charlie Marcus, Josh Prince, Eddie Korbich, and Nora Mae Lyng. The last entry will be Noël Coward’s Pacific 1860, running January 31-February 2; casting for this show has yet to be announced.

All performances will be at the York Theatre at Saint Peter’s Church, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street. The schedule is: Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm, and Sunday evenings at 7:30pm. Audience discussions will be held following each matinee performance.
