The Laguna Playhouse in California will honor five-time Tony Award-winning actress Julie Harris at a black tie event to be held on April 12.

Harris won Tonys for her leading performances in I Am a Camera in 1952, The Lark in 1956, Forty Carats in 1969, The Last of Mrs. Lincoln in 1973, and The Belle of Amherst in 1977, as well as a lifetime achievement Tony in 2002. She appeared in a production of The Belle of Amherst at the Laguna Playhouse in 2000 and subsequently toured with it to 18 other cities throughout the U.S.

Also scheduled to be honored at the April 12 ceremony are Joe Lauderdale (celebrating his 15th year as head of the Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre) and the team that helped establish the new Laguna Beach Business Improvement District. Further information about the gala — which will be held in Laguna Beach’s new Montage Resort & Spa, opening next month — will be released shortly.
