Paper Mill Playhouse celebrated the opening night of its production of
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, on March 20. Mark Waldrop has directed the production, which features choreography by Vince Pesce.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, the musical is set in Ancient Rome, and revolves around Pseudolus, a slave who must win his freedom by playing matchmaker for his master.
Paul Vogt stars as Pseudolus, with the cast also including Stephen Berger (Marcus Lycus), Justin Bowen (Hero), Stephen R. Buntrock (Miles Gloriosus), Chet Carlin (Erronius), Chelsea Krombach (Philia), Beth McVey (Domina), John Scherer (Hysterium), and Greg Vinkler (Senex). The ensemble includes Kristine Bendul, Nicole Benoit, Krisitine Covillo, Ryan Dietz, Michael Timothy Howell, Anthony Johnson, Liz McKendry, Anne Otto, Chondra L. Profit, Lara Seibert, and Bret Shuford.
