Ropes starts its run tonight at Two River Theater.

Ropes follows three brothers, Paul, Prince, and Presley. They all arrive at the airport to reunite with the father who abandoned them as children, and who also happens to be the most famous tightrope walker of all time. As the family comes together they are confronted with the universal difficulties of love, loss, and forgiveness.

Translated by Maria Alexandria Beech from the original Spanish written by Bárbara Colio, the show is directed by Lisa Roth. The cast features Varín Ayala as Paul, Gabriel Gutiérrez as Prince, and Luis Moreno as Presley.

"We were introduced to Bárbara Colio’s Ropes, in Maria Alexandria Beech’s exquisite translation, in our 2013 Crossing Borders festival of new Latino plays, and just never let it go," says artistic director John Dias. "It’s a gorgeous, deeply moving play. We are especially pleased to present two performances in Spanish, and create opportunities for our Spanish-speaking audiences to experience the play in its original language."

The creative team includes Narelle Sissons (set design), Mary Louise Geiger (lighting design), Theresa Squire (costume design), Stowe Nelson (sound design), Daniel Kluger (composer), Alison Hassman (stage manager).

Performances will run through March 20.
