John Tartaglia, the original Tony-nominated star of Broadway's Avenue Q, will headline the George Street Playhouse production of Jonathan Tolins' hit solo show Buyer & Cellar. Artistic Director David Saint will helm the production.

Tartaglia takes on the role of Alex More, an out-of-work L.A. actor who takes a job at the real-life, private, high-end mall that exists beneath Barbra Streisand's Malibu compound.

"I am thrilled to welcome John to George Street, in this wonderful comedy by Jonathan Tolins," said Saint. "He has the perfect combination of comic timing and an innate likability that works so well for this character."

Drama Desk Award winner Michael Urie originated the role of Alex during the play's off-Broadway run, which ran for over 450 performances at the Barrow Street Theatre in 2013-14.

In addition to his Tony-nominated performance in Avenue Q in 2004, Tartaglia is best known as executive producer, creator, and star of the eight-time Emmy-nominated Johnny and the Sprites, for which he personally earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Performance in a Children's Series.

The creative team of the George Street production includes scenic designer Andrew Boyce, lighting designer Christopher J. Bailey, and projection designer Alex Koch.

Buyer & Cellar will begin performances at the George Street Playhouse on March 3 in advance of a March 6 opening. The show will run through March 29.
