Marlo Thomas to Star in Elaine May’s Roger Is Dead at George Street

Marlo Thomas will star in the world premiere of Roger Is Dead, a new play written and directed by Elaine May, to run April 8-May 11 at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Thomas will play Doreen, a vapid Manhattan socialite who has just lost her husband. With no real friends to turn to, Doreen confides in Carla, the daughter of her favorite nanny.

May’s many plays include After the Night and the Music, Taller Than a Dwarf, and Adult Entertainment. She is a two-time Academy Award nominee for the screenplays Heaven Can Wait and Primary Colors; her other film credits include A New Leaf, The Heartbreak Kid, and The Birdcage.

Thomas has starred on Broadway in Thieves, The Shadow Box, and Social Security. She is well known for her starring role on the television series That Girl, for which she earned a Golden Globe Award and four Emmy Award nominations.
