Stephen Spinella to Star in Denis O’Hare’s An Iliad at McCarter Theatre

Two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Spinella will star in Denis O’Hare’s An Iliad, to run October 19 – November 7 at McCarter Theatre Center. Lisa Peterson will direct the production.

In the piece, Homer’s epic about the Trojan war is brought to life by a single performer.

Spinella won Tony Awards for his performance as Prior Walter in Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, the two parts of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America. His other stage include Spring Awakening, Our Town, James Joyce’s The Dead, A View from the Bridge, The Seagull, A Question of Mercy, and Love! Valour! Compassion!/

The creative team will include set designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Marina Draghici, and lighting designer Scott Zielinski. Mark Bennett’s original score for An Iliad will be performed live by Brian Ellingsen on double bass.
