Nikki Blonsky, Lainie Kazan Set for Atlantic City Engagement of My Big Gay Italian Wedding

Lainie Kazan and Nikki Blonsky will appear in My Big Gay Italian Wedding for two performances at the Hilton Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, to be offered August 26-27 at 9pm. The actresses will play, respectively, mother and daughter Angela and Maria Pinnunziato.

Kazan received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in My Favorite Year. She also starred on Broadway in Funny Girl, Bravo Giovanni, and The Happiest Girl in the World. Her film and television appearances include The Nanny, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Ugly Betty, and most recently, Desperate Housewives.

Blonksy received a Golden Globe nomination for her turn as Tracy Turnblad in the film version of Hairspray. Among her many TV credits are Ugly Betty, Valemont, and Huge.

The show, written by Anthony J. Wilkinson, focuses on two gay men as they plan their wedding and the people around them, including an overbearing Italian mother, a jealous ex-boyfriend, the wedding planner from Hell, and an assortment of family and friends.

Sonia Blangiardo will direct the Atlantic City company of the show which will also include Wilkinson in the role of Anthony Pinnunziato. In addition, Kim Sozzi will reprise her role as Aunt Toniann for the performance on August 26, while freestyle dance/pop singer Judy Torres will perform the role on August 27. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.
