The Toxic Avenger creators David Bryan and Joe DiPietro will meet fans and sign copies of the recently released CD of the musical at the George Street Playhouse, May 12 from 5:30 to 7 pm.

The musical — which premiered at the Playhouse in the fall and is currently running Off-Broadway at New World Stages — focuses on an aspiring earth scientist tossed into a vat of radioactive goo, becoming New Jersey superhero The Toxic Avenger.

The CD, released by Time Life, features the Off-Broadway cast: Sara Chase, Nick Cordero, Demond Green, Nancy Opel, and Matthew Saldivar. The Toxic Avenger, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, recently received the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best New Off-Broadway Musical.

Bryan is best known as the keyboardist and founding member of Bon Jovi. DiPietro’s musical theater works include I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, All Shook Up, and The Thing About Men. The duo also co-wrote the musical Memphis, which is aiming for a Broadway debut fall of 2009.
