The Montclair Film Festival has announced plans for the inaugural festival’s film and live events, which will take place May 1-6 at venues across Montclair.

The festival will launch with a red carpet event for the screening of The Oranges, a comedy set in suburban New Jersey, starring Hugh Laurie, Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, Allison Janney, and Leighton Meester.

Other events will include interviews with Oscar-winners Michael Moore and Olympia Dukakis, a conversation with actor Patrick Wilson, and a discussion with New Jersey native Michael Uslan, author of The Boy Who Loved Batman. In addition, there will be a tribute to film icon Kathleen Turner during a wide-ranging conversation.

Montclair Film Festival, whose board of advisors includes Stephen Colbert, journalist Adaora Udoji, cosmetics CEO Bobbi Brown, and President of National Geographic Films Daniel Battsek, is curated to encompass what makes Jersey special. It aims to provide a platform for filmmakers from New Jersey, US, and throughout the world.
