WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Pride of Parnell Street is By Sebastian Barry and Directed by Jim Culleton.In "honeyed prose spiked with wormwood humour" (The Guardian), the Irish novelist-turned-playwright Sebastian Barry (Our Lady of Sligo) chronicles a contemporary love among the ruins, that of janet and Joe, a couple born into Dublin's inescapable underclass. The celebrated Fishamble production, the hit of last year's Dublin Theatre Festival, is a sequence of vivid, now and again tender, monologues by the "new crown prince of Ireland's majestic literary tradition" (Newsweek).
