Stephen Wadsworth directs Fraulein Else, adapted from the novella by Arthur Schnitzler and co-produced with the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. Nineteen-year-old Frdulein Else is a high-spirited, wildly imaginative young woman forced to accept a decadent offer she cannot refuse in order to keep her debt-ridden father out of prison. The play, set in a Northern Italian spa in 1912, explores Else's unraveling mind as she wrestles with shame and the consequences of debauchery.
