What can be done for a Prince who has lost his flamboyant love to accidental death? In this gossamer comedy-romance, there is a simple solution. The Duchess searches out a sweet, unassuming hat-maker named Amanda (who just happens to look just like the late Léocadia) and prepares her to fill the void in Albert's heart. Things get off to a rocky start, however, with the Prince. And Amanda is bewildered, then increasingly uneasy in her new life. How Amanda grows beyond living as an impersonation to assert her own uncomplicated self is the lyrical charm of this French fairy tale.
