Oscar Wilde's masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest returns to the Guthrie's thrust stage with carefree bachelors Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff each creating an imaginary character to visit their loves and win their hearts. Yet in Earnest, Oscar Wilde says it best: "Truth is rarely pure and never simple." The Importance of Being Earnest remains an audience favorite for its delicious wit, hidden identities, and silly games of keeping up appearances that aren't always what they seem.
