WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Hedda Gabler is the story of a proud, ambitious and magnificently manipulative woman. Unfortunately, her options in 1890 are limited. She is boxed in psychologically and socially by conventions of the time - and a tedious marriage to a self-satisfied scholar. Is Hedda looking for love? For affirmation? What's behind her flirtations? Why is she so cruel to her old lover? What drives her to escalating acts of rashness and, ultimately, tragedy?
