The Guthrie Theater will hold a special October 12 reading of The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, an epilogue to the Tectonic Theatre Project's play about the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepherd, a young gay man who was living in rural Wyoming. The reading will be directed by Benjamin McGovern.

Tectonic director Moises Kaufman and his co-writers -- Stephen Belber, Leigh Fondakowski, Andy Paris, and Greg Pierotti -- returned to Laramie last fall to re-interview several townspeople who originally gave accounts about Shepard and his killers in 1998.

The Guthrie reading will feature actors Mark Benninghofen, Michael Booth, Bob Davis, Melissa Hart, Charity Jones, Tracey Maloney, Kris L. Nelson, and Michelle O'Neill.

Immediately after the reading, the Guthrie will participate in a special talkback with Kaufman and others broadcast live via satellite from the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, which is one of over 120 venues where the play will be performed that night. An online community with links to participating theaters can be found at www.laramieproject.org.

For tickets, call 612-377-2224 or 877-44-STAGE, or visit www.guthrietheater.org.
