Keir Dullea, Harry Groener, James A. Stephens Set for The Guthrie Theater's Christopher Hampton Celebration

Full casting has been announced for the three plays of The Guthrie Theater's Christopher Hampton Celebration, running September 21 through November.

Tales from Hollywood (September 15-October 27), a biting comedy about German intellectual émigrés directed by Ethan McSweeny, will feature Julia Coffey (Helen Schwartz), Allison Daugherty (Nelly Mann), Bob Davis (Thomas Mann), Keir Dullea (Heinrich Mann), Laura Esping (Katja Mann), Summer Hagen (Angel), Charity Jones (Marta Feuchtwanger), Barbara Kingsley (Salka Viertel), Bill McCallum (Art Nicely), Kris L. Nelson (Hal), Lee Sellars (Ödön von Horvath), Dan Shor (Charles Money/ Jacob Lomakhin), John Skelley (Young Man), Anna Sundberg (Helene Wiegel), and Stephen Yoakam (Bertolt Brecht).

David Esbjornson will direct Appomattox (September 29-November 11), a historical examination of the issues at the core of the American soul: freedom, rights, race and a stubborn belief in and hope for a brighter future. The cast will include Harry Groener (Abraham Lincoln/Lydon B. Johnson), Brian Reddy (Wilmer McLean/ J. Edgar Hoover), M. Cochise Anderson (Col. Ely S. Parker/Chef), Mark Benninghofen (Gen. Ulysses S. Grant/Nicholas Katzenbach), Ernest Bentley (Union Guard/Jimmie Lee Jackson/John Lewis), Mark Boyett (George Wallace), David Anthony Brinkley (David Porter/James Bernard Fowler), Stephen Cartmell (Edward Alexander/Cartha DeLoach), Danny Robinson Clark (Old Man/Cager Lee), Shawn Hamilton (Martin Luther King, Jr.), Tonia Jackson (Viola Jackson), Philip Kerr (Robert E. Lee/Richard Russell), Karen Landry (Mary Custis Lee), Michael Milligan (John Wilkes Booth/John Rawlins/Lee Harvey Oswald/Jack Valenti), Greta Oglesby (Elizabeth Keckley/Coretta Scott King), Richard Ooms (Howell Cobb/Edgar Ray Killen), Angela Pierce (Julia Grant/Viola Liuzzo), Sally Wingert (Mary Todd Lincoln/Lady Bird Johnson), Brian James, Joe Nathan Thomas, and Shá Cage.

Carol Brown Janeway's translation of Hampton's Embers (October 9-27), a play based on Sándor Márai's novel about Konrad, a yound man who ran away, leaving his best friend Henrik and Henrik's wife Krisztina with no explanation, will be directed by Joe Dowling. The small cast will include Barbara Bryne (Nini), Nathaniel Fuller (Konrad), James A. Stephens (Henrik).
