Lynn Nottage’s multi-award winning Ruined will open the 2009-10 season at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis. The theater’s staging will be the first one that this Pulitzer Prize winner has had since its premiere, a co-production from Chicago’s Goodman Theatre and New York’s Manhattan Theatre Club (where it runs through September 6). The Mixed Blood production of Ruined will open October 16.

The theater’s second offering is Somebody/Nobody (opening February 26) by Jane Martin (Talking With, Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage). Martin’s play explores what happens when an unemployed mechanic becomes an unlikely heroine by saving the life of a Hollywood starlet.

The third production at Mixed Blood Theatre will be Kristoffer Diaz’ The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety (opening April 9), a play that’s set in the often trash-talking world of professional wrestling. This production of “Elaborate Entrance” is part of a three-city “rolling world premiere” for the script. It will also be seen at Chicago’s Victory Gardens Theater and Philadelphia’s InterAct Theatre Company.
