Jon Ferguson’s Super Monkey to Premiere at the Guthrie in September

Theater-maker Jon Ferguson will debut his newest piece, Super Monkey at The Guthrie in Minneapolis. This world premiere production will run in the theater’s Dowling Studio from September 17 – October 4.

Super Monkey is the story of an elite group of individuals that inhabit a modern urban condominium and the people that serve them. The piece, which Ferguson has collaboratively developed with the ensemble, explores the idea of personal and structural facade and the ever-present potential for descent into chaos. The cast will include Jason Ballweber, Tyson Forbes, Sophie Gori, Rebecca Hurd, Emily King, Elise Langer, Sara Richardson, Anthony Sarnicki, Paul Sommers, and Dario Tangleson.

Ferguson’s work has been seen at such London venues as The Gate Theatre, The Battersea Arts Centre, and the Finborough Theatre. His productions have also toured internationally and he has created many pieces for other theaters and theater companies in Minneapolis/St. Paul such as The Loring Playhouse The Bryant Lake Bowl and Mishka Productions at Bedlam Theater. His play Bury My Heart at Dumb Ass Cowboy was part of The 2008 New York Clown Theater Festival in 2008.
