The first in McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays trilogy, the piece centers on Oya, a charismatic high school track star, who hopes to use her speed as a ticket out of the Louisiana bayou, but fate intervenes when she makes a life-defining decision to defer an athletic scholarship in order to care for her ailing mother.

In related news, Pillsbury House Theatre and The Mount Curve Company have announced plans to produce the other two plays in McCraney's trilogy during the 2012 season.
