Chicago, Billy Elliot and More Set for Ordway Center’s 2012-2013 Season

The Ordway Center has announced the productions set for its 2012-2013 season, which will begin in August.

The season will open with Kander and Ebb’s Chicago (August 7-12), which will be followed by another musical favorite, Billy Elliot (October 9-14). Other Broadway musicals coming to the Ordway Center include Elf (December 5-30) and Anything Goes (May 7-12). There will be a sing-along to The Sound of Music (May 18) and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (June 18-23). Some of the twin cities’ best performers will appear in the Broadway Songbook concert series, which will have performances throughout the season.

The Ordway Center’s musical guests will include Minnesota-raised Mexican artist Lila Downs (October 17), Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band (October 26), Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr. (February 8), and Irish fiddle player Eileen Ivers and the band Immigrant Soul (March 17).

The season’s dance offerings will feature Mexican choreographers/dancers Claudia Lavista and Victor Manuel Ruiz in Delfos Danza Contemporánea (October 20), New Zealand’s Black Grace (March 19), and dance sensation Pilobolus (May 4).
