Full Cast Set for Jeff Daniels’ Panhandle Slim & The Oklahoma Kid at Purple Rose

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for The Purple Rose Theatre Company’s world premiere of Jeff Daniels’ Panhandle Slim & The Oklahoma Kid, June 19-August 30, with an opening set for June 27. Guy Sanville will direct.

The comedy tells the fateful tale of a prairie showdown between a vagrant outlaw and a singing cowboy. It features original songs, as well as scoundrels, six-guns, and a horse named Buttermilk.

The cast will include Jessica Garrett, Phil Powers, John Seibert, and Tom Whalen. The production will feature set design by Dennis G. Crawley, costume design by Christianne Myers, lighting design by Reid G. Johnson and sound design by Quintessa Gallinat.


Daniels is the founder and executive director of Purple Rose, and has written numerous plays for the company, including Shoe Man, Across the Way, and Escanaba in da Moonlight. He is well known as an actor, most recently appearing on the New York stage in Blackbird at the Manhattan Theatre Club. His many film credits include Dumb and Dumber, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Something Wild, and Terms of Endearment.
