WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The latest of what The New York Times calls choreographer Zvi Gotheiner's "heroically surging, exalting dances," Zoom shatters the wall between audience and performers, with photos and text conversations from the crowd becoming an exhilarating, interactive real-time video collage of images and unscripted dialogue to which the dancers respond. Gotheiner's integration of technology and audience participation is ingenious -- more than simply playing with the ideas and themes of modern communication, he has embedded the shifting mores of social media into the DNA of piece. The result is a dance that is more experienced than watched. Bring your cell phone and be prepared to use it.
This performance is made possible by the W. Ford Schumann '50 Endowment for the Arts and the Lipp Family Fund for Performing Artists.
"One does not just watch a dance by Zvi Gotheiner. One enters a world with its own internal logic, a sensual, organic world of movement, language, and images where one is pulled along by currents unseen and inevitable." Dance Magazine
"(Puck) shape-shifts as if he were Silly Putty. His performance establishes the gymnastically playful tone for this beguiling production, the latest in the company's series of Shakespeare ignited with music and dance." The Washington Post
