WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Some viewers of Young Jean Lee's The Shipment may ask, "Why in the world would a Korean American woman write a play about African American issues?" "What's so strange or exotic about that?" others might reply. Join a group of Williams educators as they try to answer both questions. Vince Schleitwiler (English) will speak about the hidden history of African American/Asian American relations, and Dr. Joyce Foster will moderate a panel discussion on the challenges of writing about a racial group not one's own, featuring Devyn Benson (History) and Nikki Floyd (Asian Studies). All are welcome; familiarity with the play is not required.
