Renowned Boston choreographer Anna Myer melds the movements that link a record-spinning DJ to Bach. The varied musical approaches create an emotionally powerful performance that explores both the disconnection and the connection we experience around ever-changing cultural differences in America that are always in motion, stretching boundaries. The company's nine dancers will be accompanied by a violist and a master DJ from Trend Stream Entertainment to present a world premiere work.

Saturday's program features the Boston premiere of Les nuits barbares ou les premiers matins du monde (The Barbarian Nights or the First Dawns of the World), an awe-inspiring new work that explores the historical mix of countless cultures and religions that make up a universal Mediterranean ethos.
Dance UP features six of the most promising and skilled dance makers in New England today. Identical twins Bobby and Billy McClain have performed hip-hop dance for 30 years as the Wondertwins. Tap dance company Subject:Matter presents new and cutting-edge tap dance work under the direction of Ian Berg. James Morrow brings hip-hop culture to concert dance with his company james morrow/The Movement. Compelling choreographer Kat Nasti utilizes the constantly changing and diverse artistic pool available in Boston for her Kat Nasti Dance. Doppelgänger Dance Collective (DDC) creates original, contemporary choreographic work for duet performance. Young, talented choreographer Alexander Davis recently created his own company, Alexander Davis Dance (ADD).
Nearly 40 years after he began performing, Johnny Clegg is embarking on his last world tour: The Final Journey. A singer, songwriter, dancer, anthropologist, and musical activist, Clegg pioneered infectious crossover music by combining Western pop with Zulu rhythms, becoming one of South Africa's most celebrated musicians and an international superstar. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 but continued to tour while in treatment. With the cancer now in remission, Clegg is finishing a new album and his autobiography, and will perform a final set of concerts with the Johnny Clegg Band to thank his fans for their support over the long journey that spans his remarkable career.
The internationally renowned repertory company Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, or BJM, defies categories with its blend of hip, funky moves infused with infectious energy, humor, and imagination. Led by artistic director Louis Robitaille, BJM presents the Boston premiere of O Balcão de Amor by choreographer Itzik Galili, inspired by Pérez Prado's classic Cuban mambo music. The energetic and sensual piece is infused with comedic sparks and charming absurdity that aims to return us to our youth with all its hopes and dreams. The company will also perform other works from its vast repertoire.

Summer Dance Workshop is also a great way for new students to join Boston Ballet School, making the program perfect for students of different levels ages 8-12.
