Synopsis

Disabled hurricane Katrina survivor / dancer performs In Katrina play.

Tiara Mone't King, a wheelchair bound double survivor of domestic violence and a hurricane Katrina survivor, will perform in the new multimedia hip hop musical Katrina: A Whole Lotta Water.

The Off-Broadway production is touring in Baltimore, Maryland. Tiara attended the Baltimore School for the Arts. Emmitt Thrower the writer/producer/director/actor who cast Tiara calls her "an inspiration to all of us who struggle to survive." Emmitt who is disabled himself from a brain stem stroke in 2001 also performs in the show. The show had a successful run in New York City in November and December 2006.

The play explores the emotional, psychological, human rights and race issues affecting hurricane Katrina survivors. Music performed by rap/activist "Shakka" leaves you hopeful of the future of the Katrina survivors with it's uplifting sounds. Choreographed by New York's Arlee Chadwick and featuring the talented dance group "Strut International. " It is a theater experience like no other. Emotional, Hopeful, Soulful and often Amusing. El Diario newspaper says "Katrina is immortalized in theater." It is hoped that this play will help keep these issues in the spotlight as this human drama continues to unfold in the gulf coast area. The play brings it all home straight to the heart, and that is the hope and intent of its creators.
