In April 1996, The Blank Theatre Company took up residence at the 2nd Stage Theatre in Hollywood. The Blank Theatre Company was founded in 1990 as a non-profit corporation by its current Artistic Director/Producer Daniel Henning. With a BFA from New York University, Mr. Henning moved to Los Angeles and was disappointed in most of the theatre in town. So at the age of 24, with settlement money from an assault he suffered in New York City, he started The Blank Theatre Company. The company's mission has grown and refined itself over the years. The BTC has found its place in the Los Angeles theatre scene and Laurie Winer in the Los Angeles Times called The Blank Theatre Company "one of the smartest smaller companies around." The Blank Theatre Company's mission is to produce either premieres or "reinventions" of previously produced materials. The productions must be innovative and provocative and of the highest artistic quality.
