Jay wants to be a writer. There's only one problem- his family is completely functional. As his loving parents try to support him by destroying their marriage, Jay becomes enmeshed in a power struggle between Jerry Brown and a Pro Football player who are both convinced Jay is the second coming of Padraic T. Duffy and will
save the world. And what an odd world it is, where Linda Ronstadt can be your maid, Richard Nixon your writing teacher, and Jesus can really, really hate cats. Illustrious Birth is an absurdist romp that explores the inherent hubris and joy of writing and what makes us who we are.
