WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

From the writer-director team that brought Los Angeles the hilarious and unforgettable How to Explain the History of Communism to Mental Patients comes a new comic collaboration.

In the twilight world between life and death, the great playwright Anton Chekhov is visited by the characters from his plays. They joke, argue, and complain, addressing fundamental questions about destiny, doctors and patients, the passage of time, and ultimately life and death.

Playwright Matei Visniec says, "Why The Chekhov Machine? Because Chekov's theatre is a machine to crush destiny. This is a look at this machine, a modest guided tour into the entrails of the beast in order to see how it works, why it never stops, why its victims protest so rarely, why Chekhov himself allows himself to be devoured by this machine."
