Synopsis

Ken Dance Company, Japan-born and CalArts-trained, Kenji Yamaguchi has been a longtime fix- ture on the local dance scene, his virtuosity most often showcased by choreographers Frit and Frat Fuller. More recently, Yamaguchi has emerged as an arresting choreographer in his own right. In November 2006 at the respected Palm Desert Choreography Festival, the duet "Asura" was a standout both for its evocative choreography exploring ideas of loss and reunion and for Yamaguchi's astonishing performance with Kana Miyamoto. For his Spirited Astray, each piece comes alive while being painted by the dark magician, Necromancer.
