Synopsis

Set in New England during the time of the Puritans, shAme tells the tale of Hester Prynne, a woman scorned and banished for having a child out of wedlock. Hester is a figure of strength who refuses to bend to the dictates of her society by giving away the name of her lover, the Reverend Dimmesdale. She is forced to live and raise her child, Pearl, in isolation. It is a tale of intense passion but also one of revenge when her long lost husband Chillingworth appears and learning of Hester's illegitimate daughter, manipulates the Reverend who he discovers is the father.
