READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY TICKETS OR YOU MAY REGRET IT!!! KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO! IT'S A HIGH ACTION, OVER-THE-TOP, NO HOLDS BARRED PERFORMANCE THAT HAS 'BANK ROBBERS' THROWING AUDIENCE MEMBERS ONTO THE FLOOR AND SURFERS SPITTING BLOOD AND THROWING WATER ON PEOPLE: HENCE, THE PONCHOS IN THE SURVIVOR KITS. THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH, UPTIGHT, FAINT OF HEART, OR THE EASILY OFFENDED. THEATER SNOBS PROBABLY WON'T GET IT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A TRADITIONAL THEATER EXPERIENCE - STAY THE F**K AWAY FROM THIS SHOW.
Point Break LIVE!, the absurdist stage adaptation of the 1992 Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze extreme-sports blockbuster, returns to its roots: Los Angeles, "bank robbery capital of the world," where "a lot has changed in the last 20 years - the air got dirty and the sex got clean."
Yes, L.A. is where the action went down in Point Break back in 1992, and it's happening all over again with a new twist.
Point Break LIVE!, the Brechtian blockbuster which garnered a "Seattle P-I Best of Seattle 2004" award, as well as rave reviews across the nation, tells the story of former college football star Johnny Utah -- Keanu Reeves in the film -- who goes in pursuit of the surfing, bankrobbing, skydiving, bare-hand-fighting adrenaline-junkie-cum-Zen-master Bodhi Sattva. The show features armed robbery, big-wave surfing, car chases, explosions, and no less than two extended skydiving sequences.
Best of all, the starring role of Keanu will be selected at random from the audience each night, with the lucky winner reading their entire script off of cue-cards. This method manages to capture the rawness of a Keanu Reeves performance even from those who generally think themselves incapable of acting.
"The worse it gets, the better it gets. Sensationally idiotic." - Seattle P-I Theatre
Sold out in extended runs in Seattle, Minneapolis, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.

The PA holds cue cards for "Keanu" while "Pappas" looks on.
The longest running theater show in Los Angeles celebrated its two year anniversary on Saturday at the Dragonfly in Hollywood. Point Break LIVE! has been extremely successful, and with good reason. It is one of the most entertaining theater pieces in my memory; even better than Cats. Okay, granted: most shows are better than Cats. Point Break LIVE! is exceptionally good, though.
Point Break LIVE! is an absurdist stage adaptation of the classic 1991 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. The twist to this show is that at every performance the role of “Keanu” is performed by a member of the audience hence, the cue cards. Because the show has been running for two years, I’m certain there are dozens of reviews more eloquent than mine just on the other side of a Google search. This is not so much a review as an unabashed endorsement.
Buy tickets. See this show. Now! I’m already planning to see it again with other friends.
Point Break LIVE! is a spectacular interactive theater show with comedy, stunts, special-ish effects, hot half-naked surfer dudes…everything you could want in a big budget action movie, but on a seriously diminished budget. There are so many delightful surprises in this show, I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoiling any of the fun.

Ive never actually logged in to write a review for a show. Theatre in LA is, Im sure, a tough thing, and you want to see things succeed even when you arent crazy about them. But this show is by far the worst piece of comedy, parody, theatre, anything Ive ever seen period. Every joke, every stunt was at the lowest common denominator. Nothing remotely smart or interesting about it. This is clearly the kind of show designed for bachelor and bachelorette parties. The idea of comedy here is throwing water bottles on people, spitting beer, screaming at the top of your lungs, putting your foot in someones face, making fun of an audience members boobs, and making gay jokes - count me out. Honestly, a monkey could have gotten these jokes. And, to boot, when we decided to leave after the first miserable half, we left and were told by the bouncer that we were just stupid for not liking it and that we didnt get it. I love the movie Point Break in that its hilariously bad. But when the person you pick out of the audience is by far the best and most real thing about this awful show, youve got a huge problem.
