WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
It is the year 1933. Hitler and his Nazis are starting a power grab in Germany. Among the artists and acrobats of Circus Welt, a small circus traveling in the south of Germany, are Jews, blacks, gays, and communists. They all hope that if they do not get involved, the storm will blow over. Will it?
Then one day a mysterious stranger enters and asks to be a clown. His arrival becomes the catalyst in this epic story of love, hate, life, and death.
Loosely based on Leonid Andreyev's 1915 classic He Who Gets Slapped, Circus Welt is written and directed by the internationally noted stage director Pavel Cerny. This production features a large cast of actors well known from Hollywood films, TV, and stage. World Premiere.

Three Rings of Five Stars!
This a play that with timeless themes and yet very relevant to today. It is about the human condition and about how we all live with each other. It was funny and moving at the same time. The acting was great. No clownin!

Theater is alive in L.A w Circus Welt
I see a lot of theater in Los Angeles and it has been a long time since I saw a production as impressive and moving as "Circus Welt". The idea of clowns hiding from nazis sounded strange at first but the concept is rather brilliant once you see it come together on stage with wonderful, colorful performances and sharp, witty dialogue and a fast pace that makes the entire evening feel too short.
What the show does brilliantly is mix history with entertainment. I found myself laughing, crying, scared and happy as I went on this unique journey with Circus Welt.
I look forward to coming again and bringing my teenage sons as I think they will get so much out of it.
It has been a week since I saw the show and Im STILL telling friends about it!
