WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

bare is a contemporary rock musical that focuses on the coming-of-age of five high school students at a Catholic boarding school. As the students struggle to find their identity, they strive to define themselves in terms of their sexuality, religion and relationships.

With a pulsing rock score at its center, 'bare' follows the secret love affair between Peter and Jason, two high school dorm mates, and the sensual persistence of the popular Ivy, who aggressively pursues her attraction to Jason.

The first production of bare held its world premiere in Hollywood in October 2000. Nine years later, we are thrilled to be bringing the material back home to Los Angeles for a two night concert workshop.

With strong themes of acceptance, tolerance and equality, the book and score of 'bare' are increasingly relevant today. Part of the proceeds from this workshop will be donated to benefit the NO H8 campaign.

RE:BARE
This was such a different type of experience for me. Wonderfully done as a concert workshop, it showcased talent and told a story that touched viewers. This reviewer felt the casting was good, although the gal playing Ivy should never sing at the angry volume she did near the end of the show. Her voice is much better suited to the delicate numbers. The two lead males were well suited for their roles. The angel scene was so much fun and well cast! Personality and vocals were glowing. The musical director was an additional vignette, fun to watch although perhaps distracting at times. Overall a very enjoyable evening and Id love to see the musical done in full!
