A frantic hostess forces food and cigarettes on her guests in an attempt to disguise both the failure of her party and of her marriage. Abigail's Party is a hilarious dark comedy by Mike Leigh, the creator of the acclaimed films Secrets and Lies, Topsy-Turvey and Vera Drake. Directed by Julian Holloway.
Abigail's Party (1979) was also made into a film for the BBC and became the most watched play in British television history. It was later revived on its twenty-fifth anniversary and was nominated for the 2002 Laurence Oliver Award for Best Revival. It premiered in New York in 2004.
